Academic templates

76 Word templates sorted by department, plus lecture slides and a LaTeX kit. For the Academic and Research Vice Provosts, the Registrar, LMS and the ten teaching departments, each in its own colour.

Each teaching department’s documents carry its colour as a tab on the pattern’s rule. Coordinators and department leaders hand each template to the staff who use it and check that documents use the current version. Click a template to download it, or take the whole set as a zip with the fonts.

Physics, Mathematics, Humanities, and English and Communication share Light Yellow #EAE4D2 until SIT assigns their colours. Exam, assignment and syllabus files contain sample course content to show the layout.

Keynote · PowerPoint · Google Slides

Lecture slides

12 master layouts at 16:9: title, section, content, two-column, key idea, equation, image, code, lab activity, summary, title only, closing.

On a Mac: open the .pptx in Keynote and choose File › Save. The layouts become Keynote master slides; File › Save Theme makes it reusable.

Word · Pages · Google Docs · LibreOffice

Documents

A4 documents with the official pattern anchored to the page, so typing never moves it. Opens in Word, Pages on Mac, Google Docs and LibreOffice. Every office and department has its own set, with its name and colour already in place. Poppins is embedded for Word.

TeXstudio · Overleaf · any LaTeX

LaTeX kit

sitbrand.sty, a beamer theme and eight templates: letter, memo, exam with answer-key switch, assignment, handout, syllabus, thesis and slides. One line, \SITdept{ELE}, sets the department name and colour tab. The page patterns are vector PDFs of the official artwork. Includes TeXstudio “New from Template” files and autocompletion.

Each file starts with % !TeX program = xelatex, so TeXstudio compiles it with XeLaTeX automatically.

Also included: Logos as SVG, PNG, PDF Poppins Regular Poppins SemiBold

Documents

Each document uses the official pattern. Formal documents (letters, exam and thesis covers) carry it on the footer; working pages (memos, question pages, assignments, syllabi, handouts) carry it on the header. Each one ships as Word and LaTeX.

Dear Dr. Lastname,

Write the opening paragraph here. State the purpose of the letter in one or two sentences so the reader understands the request immediately.

Use the second paragraph for details: dates, venue, expectations and any support the Institute will provide. The letterhead continues cleanly onto further pages with a reduced header and page numbers.

Close with the action you would like the recipient to take and how to reach you.

Yours sincerely,

ANSWER KEY
PART ITrue or false10 points
Write T if the statement is always true, otherwise write F.
1.Decide whether each statement is true or false.[10]
a)TIf a linear system is consistent and has fewer equations than unknowns, then it has infinitely many solutions.
b)FEvery square matrix has a reduced row echelon form equal to the identity.
c)TA homogeneous linear system always has at least the trivial solution.
d)FIf A and B are n × n matrices, then det(A + B) = det(A) + det(B).
PART IIShort answer12 points
Give the most simplified answer in the space provided.
2.Let A = (1234). Find A−1.[4]
Solution: A−1 = −½ (4, −2; −3, 1)
3.If A is a 3 × 3 matrix and det(A) = 4, find det(3A).108[4]
4.Determine whether the matrix is in row echelon form, reduced row echelon form, or neither.[4]

Lecture 4: Determinants
Dr. Lecturer Name  |  Week 5, October 2026
Overview

Introduce the topic in two or three sentences and say what students should be able to do after the lecture.

DEFINITION 1Determinant of a 2 × 2 matrix
For A = (a b; c d),  det(A) = ad − bc.
THEOREM 1Invertibility
A square matrix A is invertible if and only if det(A) ≠ 0.
EXAMPLE 1
det(2 1; 4 3) = 2·3 − 1·4 = 2, so the matrix is invertible.
Computing it
import numpy as np
A = np.array([[2, 1], [4, 3]])
print(np.linalg.det(A))   # 2.0

How the templates are built

The rules every template shares, so new ones from the register can follow the same pattern.

Footer or header, by priority

The official pattern: two hairlines, a vertical rule and the four circles with the orange star. Leadership offices, letters and covers use the footer version, which reads as more formal; memos and working pages use the header version. Teaching departments add their colour tab on the rule. Administrative documents keep the four circles as an outline with no star.
